Club América is going through one of their worst crises in recent years, as they currently stand second to last in Clausura 2022 after seven rounds, as they’ve only won one game, against the last team in Liga MX, Club Santos, and tied another, against the surprising leader, Club Puebla.

Who are the candidates to replace Javier "Vasco" Aguirre at the helm of Monterrey?

Santiago Solari managed to save his job at least for one more week after the scoreless draw in Ciudad Universitaria against Pumas UNAM, who lost the chance of jumping into the top four of Clausura 2022, after a closed Clásico Capitalino where they couldn’t beat Ochoa and ended the game with 10 men.

It took 7 rounds for Las Águilas to finally have a clean sheet in 2022, although they still have to find a striker that can give them the last push they need to finally return to the right track, given that Henry Martín hasn’t been that player and that Solari refuses to give Alejandro Zendejas more minutes on the pitch.

Who can be the striker that Las Águilas need?

Although he has yet to play in Liga MX, Luca Martínez Dupuy has revealed that it is his dream to arrive in Mexican soccer, especially if it is to a team like Club América, as he knows it’s one of the biggest teams in Mexico.

Luca Martínez was born in Mexico but has played his whole career in Argentina, where he debuted with Rosario Central a couple of seasons ago. The 20-year-old forward has been linked to Manchester United in the past, although they haven’t approached the Rosarinos yet.

Can he arrive in América?

Martínez Dupuy is one of the most promising players that Mexico National Team currently has, and even if he has both Mexican and Argentinean citizenships, he’s inclined to play for El Tri, as he’s been part of the U-20 and U-21 squads.

Martínez Dupuy has less than a year left on his contract with Rosario Central, but in the past, he has said that he doesn’t plan to leave Gigante de Arroyito without helping them economically, meaning that he either leaves during the summer or he’ll renew with the Rosarinos before a permanent move is agreed on. Either way, if Las Águilas want him, they could convince him to sign for free, as it will fulfill his dream of playing with them and América will finally have the striker they need.
