Last night, the dismissal of the Rayados' coach was made official, so now the team's fans are asking themselves, who are the candidates to replace Javier "Vasco" Aguirre at the helm of Monterrey?

For at least a couple of weeks, names of possible candidates to replace him at the helm of La Pandilla had already been circulating, due to the dismal results that the former coach of the Mexican national team had achieved at the helm of the team.

For this reason, it is interesting to analyze the list of options already being bandied about in the Mexican soccer environment to replace "Vasco" Aguirre.

Candidates to replace Javier "Vasco" Aguirre

Matías Almeyda

The "Pelado" not only has experience in Mexican soccer, but he also managed to win the championship for Chivas Guadalajara after several tournaments without winning the title.

Therefore, he would be up to the challenge of returning Monterrey to its rightful place of honor in Mexican soccer. And then there is the fact that the Argentinean's future in MLS does not look so clear.

Therefore, he would be a great option for Monterrey.

Victor Manuel Vucetich

If there is someone the Rayados fans miss, it is "Vuce", who was the architect of one of the club's most glorious eras, winning two Liga MX titles, one Copa MX, and three CONCACAF Champions League trophies.

What must be taken into account is that his departure from La Pandilla in 2013 was due to poor results in the Apertura tournament, so both parties would have to sit down and talk in order to reach an agreement that would benefit the club from the north of Mexico.

Marcelo "El Loco" Bielsa

This is undoubtedly the riskiest option in terms of developing a project, as Bielsa is known to be a coach who is very attached to his methods, which have sometimes caused him problems with the teams he manages.

The Argentine coach also has experience in Mexico, wherein in the 1990s he coached Club America and Atlas, a team where he is fondly remembered for having laid the foundations for player recruitment.

And it has been precisely these bases that have made the players who grew up in the Zorros' house stand out so much in soccer, with examples such as Rafa Márquez and Andrés Guardado.

In addition, Bielsa has just been dismissed from Leeds United of the Premier League, so he would be free to take the reins of the Rayados.

José Saturnino Cardozo

According to Mexican media, Duilio Davino would have considered this coach to replace Javier Aguirre.

However, there are two problems with his possible arrival to the Rayados bench: the first is that Cardozo is not very popular in Mexican soccer because he has not had many achievements in Mexican soccer.

And it must be considered that Monterrey is a club that competes for all the titles in the tournaments in which it participates, so this would be the least viable option.
