The player was not afraid of the Rayados team, considered the most expensive in Liga MX 2022, and with a deep pass, he scored in Esteban Andrada's goal, exposing the defensive deficiencies of the club coached by Javier "Vasco" Aguirre.

And it was precisely those same defensive shortcomings that caused Rayados to lose in their debut in the FIFA Club World Cup against Al-Ahly.

Who is Jhon Murillo?

Jhon Eduard Murillo Romaña is a Venezuelan soccer player, who currently plays as a winger for Club Atlético de San Luis of Liga MX.

This afternoon his name resounded everywhere when he embarrassed Rayados de Monterrey by scoring a goal and leaving the defensive line of the most expensive team of the Clausura 2022 far behind. 

The player began his career as a soccer player at the age of 15 when the Argentine coach, Eduardo Caldora, integrated him into his new project of the club from the city of Guasdualito, Unión Atlético Alto Apure, which is also part of the Venezuelan Third Division. 

At a young age, he was a fundamental piece of the Guasdalitense team, with the number 9, he is called 'Makelele' by his teammates, because of his resemblance to Claude Makelele.

Later he tries out for Zamora FC, and due to his skills he moves from the second to the first team and debuts in the Venezuelan First Division on October 22, 2012, in a 0-2 defeat against Llaneros de Guanare at the Agustín Tovar Stadium.

In this club the player two national titles in 2012-2013 and 2013-2014. With eleven goals, he is the youth player with the most goals in a season in Venezuelan soccer.

Where and when was Jhon Murillo born?

Jhon Murillo was born in El Nula, Apure state, in Venezuela on November 21, 1995, and from a very young age he was never afraid of challenges, that is why when his club, Zamora FC reached the Copa Libertadores, the player was determined to give his all to stand out in his team.

His debut in the tournament was on February 12, 2014, against Atlético Mineiro in their stadium. His first goal in this tournament and the only one of that year would be on March 26 against Club Nacional of Paraguay.

Due to his outstanding participation in the tournament, on May 20, 2015, Zamora FC confirms the transfer of Murillo to Portuguese champion S. L. Benfica on a 5-year deal. However, he did not get to play with the first team.

And on July 16, 2015, his transfer to newly-promoted C. D. Tondela is confirmed, to acquire minutes in the First category of Portugal. 

After 2 seasons in the Portuguese team, in the 2017-2018 season, he goes on loan to Kasimpasa of Turkey for one season, and from then on, he would play definitively with C.D Tondela for 4 seasons.

From then on, the player would come to play for Atletico San Luis as a reinforcement for Liga MX 2022.

Has Jhon Murillo played for the Venezuelan national team?

Murillo has been an international for the Venezuelan national soccer team and made his debut with it on February 11, 2015, against Honduras, scoring a goal thirty-seven seconds after entering.

He was part of the Venezuelan national team that traveled to Chile to play the Copa America 2015.
