Chivas finished the regular season of Clausura 2022 on a streak, as they won the last four games that they played, something that El Rebaño couldn’t do while having Marcelo Michel Leaño on the dugout, as he was never able to win back-to-back games.

The good streak that Chivas achieved with Ricardo Cadena on the dugout, helped them end the season standing sixth, tied in points with Club América and Club Puebla, but the goal difference didn’t benefit El Rebaño Sagrado.

They will face Pumas on Sunday night for the Repechaje game that will give the winner a ticket to Liguilla, where they can face either Club América or Atlas if they manage to win the game and depending on the results of the other Repechaje games.

But aside from the result that they can get on the pitch of Estadio Akron, they know that they also have to start planning what will be the 2022-23 Liga MX season, as there are some key positions that need to be addressed if they want to keep competing at a high level.

Marcelo Bielsa already has a player in mind

Although for now Ricardo Cadena remains as Chivas’s coach, reports from Sancadilla inform that El Rebaño is close to sign Marcelo Bielsa, who is willing to return to Mexican soccer after 26 of his last game coached in Liga MX, and he already is planning what will be his first move.

Now that he’s back in Argentina waiting for what will be his next move, Bielsa could request the arrival of Luca Martínez Dupuy, a Mexican Argentine striker that currently plays for Rosario Central, in the Argentine first division.

Martínez Dupuy has showed outstanding skills and abilities that have placed him on the radar of Italian clubs like Inter Milan, according to Diario Olé, although he’s also followed closely by MLS side Atlanta United who already tried to sign him for the current season, and Eredivisie side Feyenoord FC.

Martínez Dupuy is out for the season

The only complication for the arrival of the 20-year-old forward is the injury he’s going through, as he suffered a torn ACL at the start of April that will keep him sidelined for the rest of the season. But if Chivas were to acquire him, they would have to pay $750,000 to the Rosarinos.
