Club América haven’t lost a single game of the last five they played, becoming one of the strongest teams on the last part of Clausura 2022, as they’re the only team that keep an unbeaten streak that has them on the fight to earn a direct ticket to Liguilla.

The first problem that Fernando Ortíz has to face as Club América coach

Fernando “Tano” Ortíz has found a way to boost the strengths of his players, as instead of sticking to a single scheme where the players don’t seem comfortable on the positions they’re playing, Ortíz has changed the formation from week to week.

His strategy is based on the rival they are facing that week, something that has made Las Águilas succeed both in Estadio Azteca as well as when they’re visiting, as they now have four straight games without losing.

But Ortíz, who has strong possibilities of remaining as Las Águilas coach for at least another season, knows that there’s still positions he needs to improve for next season, especially on the offense, as the strikers on the roster haven’t contribute much.

Atlético Madrid could help them find their new striker

Atlético Madrid is known for investing in different clubs around the world, both to improve their brand but also to potentiate their academy teams and discover new players that could help them in La Liga that otherwise would be out of their radar.

Those investments led them to buy 51% of Atlético San Luis in 2017, and according to Alberto Marrero, San Luis’ president, for the next season they plan to build new training facilities for the first team, female team and the academy teams.

The Potosinos know that they might have to sell some of their current players to invest the income in the new facilities, including Germán Berterame, who has been linked to Club América in the past few weeks and now is closer than ever to become an Águila.

How much will Club América will have to pay?

The 23-year-old Argentine forward has played in Atlético San Luis since the 2019-20 season, although for Clausura 2022 he’s become one of the best players for André Jardine, as he’s scored four goals and assisted two times. His market value is currently set at $4.9 million.
