Why Frenkie De Jong would accept Manchester United’s proposal

Negotiations between FC Barcelona and Manchester United for Frenkie de Jong and the English club has its latest offer. Manchester United is willing to pay 70 million euros fixed and another 10 million euros in variables for De Jong, while Barça wants the fixed part to go up to 80 million and aspires to reach 100 million euros with variables.

Speaking to The Mirror, a Manchester United executive has made very clear the position of the Old Trafford club. “We want De Jong, but we are not going to be the oxygen tank that saves Barça's economy. We will only sign him for a price that is reasonable in the market.”

De Jong is awaiting news. Initially, the player declared his desire to remain at Barça and did not seem very interested with the offer from Manchester United, who will not play in the Champions League next season.
