Arsenal and boss Mikel Arteta can now rest easy with the signing of a new striker who was on Real Madrid's radar,  but in the end it was the London side who got in the way.  After the departure of Alexandre Lacazette to Olympique Lyon, the urgency for a striker for the North London side emerged.

More Manchester City news:

According to journalist Mike Keegen of the Daily Mail, Arsenal have closed the signing of Gabriel Jesus for next season and it will be made official in the coming days. The Gunner side will pay £45 million to secure the services of the Brazilian attacker, who will become the new center forward for Mikel Arteta's side for next season.

Gabriel Jesus will become Arsenal's second signing after the addition of Fabio Vieira and the club is hoping to close a few more players in this transfer window.

The Brazilian was one of Pep Guardiola's discards due to the arrival of Erling Haaland, who will take over the center forward position in the starting lineup. The ‘Citizens’ paid €60 million for the services of the Norwegian striker, and the sale of Jesus will see them recover big part of that investment.

What role will Gabriel have in Arsenal?

He will join a team in which he can be a consistent starter and with which he can increase his goalscoring figures due to all the talent he has in attack; Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith-Rowe and Gabriel Martinelli, and fits perfectly with Mikel Arteta's idea, who likes his striker to have a lot of mobility and be constantly involved in the game.
