Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel got in touch with Raheem Sterling as Chelsea look to launch a bid of up to £60 million for the Manchester City star.
Real Madrid have eyes on Premier League superstar to bolster attack after Mbappé disappointment
Sterling has attracted interest from some of Europe's biggest clubs, including Barcelona and Real Madrid. But in the Premier League, it is Chelsea who have the 27-year-old on their wish list.
Now, The Telegraph reports that Tuchel has opened talks with Sterling’s representatives as they prepare to launch their first bid. The west London club are expected to submit a bid of between £50 million and £60 million for the winger who contributed 13 goals to City’s Premier League-winning campaign last season.
After signing from Liverpool in 2015, Sterling has been City's most used player under Pep Guardiola and has entered the club’s top 10 top scorers list. However, last season, Sterling played considerably less, as Guardiola constantly limited his minutes in the Premier League, falling down the pecking order.
Sterling brings pace, skill and goals to an attack, and that's what Chelsea are lacking at the moment. They have a number of exciting players at the club, but if they want to close the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool, then they need to start signing some of the biggest players in he market.
