After a breakout season with Los Enfranjados that was cut short when Liga MX had to be cancelled because of Covid-19, Santiago Ormeño rapidly became one of the most renowned strikers in Liga MX, and he even was on the radar of Mexico National Team, although he ultimately declined playing for El Tri.
Given that his father is Peruvian, Ormeño decided to play for Peru National Team, but now karma has got him, as Peru is going through a rough patch and might not be able to secure a spot in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as they couldn’t beat Ecuador with Ormeño as a starter.

The 27-year-old Mexican Peruvian striker debuted last year with the Blanquirroja, after being a regular in Liga MX. He impressed Gareca and people even called him the successor of Paolo Guerrero, but so far, Ormeño has played 9 games without scoring a single goal.
