With the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus, Karim Benzema's role up front changed completely. Currently, the French is the maximum reference of Real Madrid's attack. Zinedine Zidane's center-piece confess that he prefers this role, more similar to the one he had to played at Olympique Lyon.

Chatting with Jorge Valdano, the former Argentine striker, 1986 World Champion and Real Madrid player, the Frenchman confess that he had to change his playing style to adapt to Cristiano when he arrived to Real Madrid. At Lyon, he played in a different way, closer to the style he is displaying this season.

Benzema defined himself as a modern forward who knows how to do more things than just scoring goals. The Frenchman describe himself as an assisting machine, capable of reading holes in the rival defenses, something that for many fans goes unnoticed. True or not, the Frenchman is playing in high level right now.

Finally, Benzema spoke about his absence in the French team and, despite being saddened, he admitted that he uses that time to rest and thus be able to perform better at Real Madrid. In his first season without Ronaldo, the Frenchman scored 27 goals and 11 assists, and he is now looking to improve his performances with Zidane back at the bench.
