The Portuguese national soccer team defeated their Macedonian counterparts 2-0 with a brace, and not from CR7, but one of his Red Devils teammates.
Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes is a Portuguese soccer player who plays as a midfielder for Manchester United F. C. in the English Premier League and is currently 27 years old.
The midfielder was born in Maia, Porto, on September 8, 1994, and started his soccer career with local club Boavista Futebol Clube, but on August 27, 2012, he joined the ranks of Italian Novara Calcio, in Italy, in the lower leagues.
And after just one week, Fernandes was promoted to the first team, but he had already dazzled another club with his performance, so in the winter of 2013, he signed with Udinese Calcio on a co-ownership deal.
In this way, he achieved the dream of every footballer to debut in the First Division, and he did not do it in just any club, but in Serie A, a tournament in which he made his debut on November 3, where he came on as a second-half substitute in the 0-3 home defeat against Football Club Internazionale.
With his new club he played 95 games, in which he scored 11 goals and provided 13 assists, with which he enamored U. C. Sampdoria, the club to which he arrived on loan in the 2016-2017 season, a club in which over 35 games, he would score 5 goals.
And with this trajectory, he was called by a great of Portuguese soccer: Sporting Lisbon, with whom he became an indispensable element by participating in 137 duels, scoring 63 goals, and serving 52 assists.
And just when Fernandes thought he could not go any higher in his career, a giant of European soccer sought him out, for his appointment with destiny: Manchester United.
The player joined the club in 2019 and has currently played 117 games for the Red Devils, scoring 49 goals and providing 40 assists.
Today, Fernandes showed the Portugal national soccer team that if Cristiano Ronaldo was needed, he could take on the role of leader and scorer of the team.
And he proved it in the 32nd minute when they took advantage of a bad horizontal pass from captain Stefan Ristovski, which was intercepted by Bruno Fernandes unleashing a brutal counterattack.
Fernandes gave the ball to Cristiano, who assisted him with a measured pass -tunnel included- to his teammate to shoot past Dimitrievski.
With this play, they made it 1-0, but the second goal was to come, exactly at minute 65, when in another counterattack, Diogo Jota sent across to the opponent's area.
With that pass, Fernandes shot with his right foot from the center of the area to the right corner, making the score 2-0 and giving his country a ticket to Qatar 2022.
