Thomas Tuchel is someone who puts special attention to the details as the manager of Paris Saint-Germain. Some days ago, he released the list of the five captains of the team for this season: Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe, Kylian Mbappé, Keylor Navas and Marco Verratti, in that order.
That list made the obvious question pop up: and Neymar? He is the best player of the team and has been there for years, does not he deserve to be included? In the press conference prior to the match versus Lyon, the German coach was asked about this and he was completely blunt in his answer.
Tuchel said Neymar is not in the list of captains because he does not want him to have to think about many things and does not want him to be distracted. He said the Brazilian will not wear the armband because the responsability he takes inside the pitch is enough and if he thinks about things about the squad, it would not be good.
Tuchel also described Ney as 'a creative artist' and said it would be good to focus on the players who are actually included and they deserve to be recognized. Tuchel demonstrated to be someone who knows what he is doing. After some conflicts with the squad, it seems like everything got in the past and the players support him fully.
