Mauricio Pochettino has now been officially confirmed as the new head coach of Paris Saint-Germain. The Argentine trainer will have his first experience in France as a manager, after being the trainer of RCF Espanyol, Southampaton and Tottenham Hotspur in the past.

As a player, Poche passed through PSG from January 2001 to July 2003, when the Parisian side wasn’t yet the tremendous club it is today. Immediately after his arrival, the coach started the talks with both sport adviser Leonardo and president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and agreed to axe two players from the first team.

The first one is already a free agent: Jesé Rodríguez. The Spanish attacker arrived to the club on 2016 and was loaned several times since his arrival. With attackers as Neymar, Kylian Mbappé or Ángel Di María, all agreed that letting him out was the better option. PSG has made a bad business with him, as he was signed for $25 million and left for free five years later.

The other player who has already been told that he won’t be used any longer is Julian Draxler. The offensive midfielder arrived on January 2017 for $40 million to PSG and is set to leave for free as well. With his contract ending on June 2021, he won’t be used nor renewed and his time at the club will end in six months when he finds a new place to play at.
