Barcelona is in the process of searching for a technical director. Although Ronald Koeman is currently on the bench and has a contract until June 2022, the Spanish media anticipate that at the end of the season the leadership of Joan Laporta will say goodbye to a coach he did not hire, since he was inherited from the presidency by Josep María Bartomeu, and which didn't meet the objectives.

What decided this would have been the 3 to 3 draw against Levante on Tuesday that left the Catalan team practically without the possibility of conquering La Liga, which now has Atlético Madrid as the leader in solitude four points ahead and with two games left in front of.

That is why this week the main portals of the Iberian nation have published a series of candidates that are of interest and that have sounded in the corridors of the Camp Nou, although there are still no formal conversations with any of them, especially since the Dutchman is still following in office. Among those names was Xavi Hernández, although this is more a wish than a reality.

The idol of the culé institution is in charge of Al Sadd of Qatar and this Wednesday he extended his link until 2023, so the illusions of the fans faded. However, now information has been leaked that excites the partners who have the former Spanish midfielder first on their list of favorites to occupy the position.

According to Marca, the Asian team will not put up obstacles if Barcelona tempts him to take the technical direction: “This possibility has been discussed with his club and Al Sadd will not put any problem in letting him leave if the Barça club calls him. Everything is discussed and there is a verbal pact for it to be so. In Qatar they value very positively that a year ago Xavi gave up going to Barcelona when Bartomeu wanted him to replace Valverde”.

It is worth noting that there is no clause in his contract that indicates this, but that it would be a pact between both parties. Therefore, if Joan Laporta decides to go for it, he can do so without inconvenience.
