Real Madrid ended Atletico Madrid's unbeaten streak after beating them 2-0 on Saturday at the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium. The home team displayed a perfect defensive performance and one of the responsibles for that, Sergio Ramos, made a number nobody else has reached before.

Ramos took the record out of Paco Gento and Manolo Sanchìs' hands and became the player with the most Madrid derbies played, with 43. Gento had been the first who reached the 42 derbies when he retired in 1971, and Sanchís got to that number in 2001. Two legends of the biggest club in the world were outplayed by Ramos.

In the most remembered performances in the derby, Ramos has two goals at UEFA Champions League finals. In 2014, he scored the equalizer in added time that took the match to extra time, where Real Madrid won 4-1 in Lisbon. And two years later, in San Siro, he scored the first goal of the game that ended 1-1 and his team won by penalties,

The closest active player to reach that milestone is Karim Benzema. With 35 derbies, he passed the legend Iker Casillas and now he is the sixth player with most derbies ever on his back. If the French striker plays two more matches, he will be the fourth, only behind the above mentioned.
