The problems suffered by Liga MX teams after the international window
In total, 18 of the 37 players who were called up to their respective national teams ended up with sequels and will face complications to return to their Liga MX squads.
A total of 37 footballers from Liga MX played with their respective national teams during the last matches organized by FIFA. Although representing the flag of their country is such great pride, there are also consequences. Many of them suffered injuries or lost a place in the starting team.
The team most affected was Monterrey, because it contributed six players to their respective national teams. Three of them could not be part of the starting team: the Chilean Sebastián Vegas, the Paraguayan Celso Ortíz and the Colombian Stefan Medina, who got injured in the game against Chile for the South America Qualifiers, and will now be away from the fields for 15 days.
The other players who lost their starting positions in their respective teams were the Mexican Gilberto Sepulveda of Chivas, the Chilean Eduardo Vargas of Tigres, the Ecuadorian Felix Torres of Santos Laguna and the Paraguayan Dario Lezcano of Juarez. In addition, seven first-team players who were called up to their national teams were unable to play the full 90 minutes.
Besides to Stefan Medina, the Chilean Diego Valdes of Santos Laguna also got injured during a game with his national team. On the other hand, the Ecuadorian Romario Ibarra and the Chilean Nicolás Díaz got injured while they were playing in the Mexican's Liga MX. In total, 18 of the 37 players who were called up to their respective national teams ended up with sequels.
