FC Barcelona will have a very hard time when trying to replace Lionel Messi. After more than 20 years at the club, the Argentine legend said that he wanted to leave and is yet defining if he will stay or if he will finally depart. Until then, Barça should start working on a plan to know what to do if his greatest star ever leaves them.

Some signings made during the last years at the Catalan side had the clear intention to find the successor of Messi, but the results were too bad. One of those who was named the new Messi and landed on the club for the fortune of $150 million was the Brazilian attacker Philippe Coutinho.

Since he left Liverpool, the forward was never the same and at his new club he scored 23 goals and gave 14 assists on 90 games played. The money spent hasn’t been recovered with those numbers and now Barcelona has lamented the injury suffered by Coutinho, who will be between four or six months without playing.

But Barça is not the only suffering the injury of the Brazilian, as Liverpool laments as well. The Premier League side set many bonuses when they sold the player and one of them was a clause to be paid if the player reached the 100 matches played at the club. Being injured and with the plans to be sold on summer, it is hard to confirm that those $20 million will arrive to the Reds one day.
