Karim Benzema needed just 22 seconds to score in El Clásico between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona for the Spanish La Liga back in December 2011. That goal is, up to now, the fastest ever scorer in the El Clasico. In addition, Benzema is the twelfth all time top scorer of the game.

The Frenchman has socred 64 goals in 119 games in the top European soccer competition, converting 12 goals for his former club Lyon and 52 for 'Merengue' since he joined it in 2009. He is in fourth place, along with Robert Lewandowski, as the top scorers in the history of the Champions League. Ahead of them stands only Lionel Messi and two former Real Madrid players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Raul Gonzalez.

Karim Benzema has a movie made about his life, which is called 'Le K Benzema' and it was released back in 2017. On the film, he recounts his life from the minor categories in Lyon to reaching the first team and his step towards Real Madrid. In the movie there are interviews with his friends, his family, teammates and even his coach and fellow Frenchman Zinedine Zidene, with whom he holds a very close relationship.

Despite being born in France, Benzema could have played for the Algerian national team since his he's parents are Algerian natives. In 2006 the Algerian Soccer Federation wanted to include him in its squad but the player chose to play for the French national team, where he has played 81 international matches until he was ejected from the squad in 2015.

The Real Madrid striker comes from a really big family. Benzema has 8 siblings, 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Karim is the third youngest and his two younger brothers, Gressy and Sabri, have also had football careers although, of course, they did not achieve the same relevance as their older brother.
