Lionel Messi future is still uncertain. The Argentinian legend tried to leave FC Barcelona during the last transfer window, but president Josep María Bartomeu closed him the exit gate. After the departure of Bartomeu and getting near to the end of his contract, Messi could now leave.

Obviously, Barça don’t want to lose Messi and started making a plan to convince him to stay. The greatest problem is that the club is facing a tremendous financial situation and has a debt of more than $800 million. To recover some money, sport advisers are signing contracts with a salary reduction to the players.

But, in the case of Messi, the situation will be different. Barcelona is thinking on selling a bunch of players to pay Messi’s renewal. Those who are now transferable for the Spanish side are Ousmane Dembélé, Samuel Umtiti, Júnior Firpo, Martin Braithwaite and Carles Aleña.

Barcelona invested more than $200 million for those players and will try to recover that money in order to sign Messi once again. The contract of the legend lasts until June 2021 and if things don’t chance soon, he is clearly thinking on moving. Manchester City is the club who has more chances on taking him and reunited him with Josep Guardiola.
