Early October Saudi Public Investment Fund PIF completed the takeover of Newcastle United for £300m after the deal received the league board's approval. The new owners have immediately swung into action but nothing has changed despite having three different managers in that time.

Newcastle have played seven games under the new owners and remain winless. They have drawn four and lost the other three and there are telling signs that results won't change and the club could be heading for relegation to the Championship.

The relegation could be very costly for the club as it would mean their rebuilding process will be slowed down as most of their transfer targets want at least European football to join, should the club get relegated, none of their top targets will sign.

The financial implication of the relegation could be up to £100m as the least ranked club in the 2019/20 season Norwich City received £94.5m compared to the £7.1m they received for winning the championship in the 2018/19 season.
