FC Barcelona is going through a transition period, where the club is slowly losing the players of its last golden age and has to be rebuilded at the same time the money is tight and there is a crisis. Ronald Koeman was the manager appointed by the previous board to solve this, but the team is not doing well under him.
The Koeman's side is currently in fifth place in La Liga, and in the press conference previous to the game against Athletic Club, the Dutch manager was asked if he needed new signings to make of the team a winning side again. And his reply was not something that the current players were expecting.
Koeman told that he gave the board a list with the players he wants the club to sign and the players he wants to get rid of. There is already an agreement for Eric Garcia, so he is not part of that list. The question goes by who are the players that Koeman wants out as soon as possible.
Probably, Lionel Messi will feature in one of those lists, whether he wants the club to retain him or thinks he already made the decision to leave. Other who might be disposable are the millionaire signings. The club spent more than 400 million euro on Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho and Antoine Griezmann, but none of them fulfilled the expectations.
