FC Barcelona is going through one of the deepest crises of its history. The Catalan side debts more than $800 million and has implemented some several measurements to try to reverse this situation. The financial issue has clearly trespassed to what happens on the field.

First, the club won’t be making any top signings during the next transfer window. The sport advisers had already said that they will try to incorporate just free agents. Secondly, they had been reducing the salary from some of their players, to lose less money in the actual contracts.

After many players, such as Marc-André ter Stegen, Gerard Piqué, Frenkie de Jong and Clement Lenglet, now head coach Ronald Koeman has agreed to perceive a lower salary than the one he was offered when he was signed. The Dutch trainer understood the situation of the club and accepted the new conditions.

Many fans and press from Spain saw this gesture as a hint to Lionel Messi. The Argentinian legend is still defining his future and one of the biggest chances for him is moving. One of the incentives that he has is that in another club he could be having a much higher salary that the one at Barcelona.
