There is a talented midfielder who became a great player thanks to Jose Mourinho and Zinedine Zidane. He arrived to Real Madrid thanks to the former and became a better player than he was, but with the latter he became one of the best midfielders of the decade and a leader for his club and nation. And now Mourinho wants him to return the favor.

Accordingly to the journalist Eduardo Inda in the Spanish TV show El Chiringuito, Mourinho called this player and asked him to go to his club. The Special One will take advantage of being in a club where this midfielder has already played, and told him to be thankful to the club that highlighted him in Europe.

This player is Luka Modric. He left Tottenham for Real Madrid in 2012, when Mourinho was the manager of the Blancos. Now the Portuguese is coaching Tottenham, he wants Modric to come back. His contract will expire this summer, so he would sign for Spurs as a free agent.

Aware of the situation, Zinedine Zidane is trying to convince him of staying and asked the board to offer Modric a new contract to stay at least for two more years. Modric is key in Zidane's system and a leader in the dressing room. His departure would be painful for Real Madrid, because replacing someone like him will be extremely difficult.

How has Modric been this season for Real Madrid?

Modric has been a regular starter this season, playing every match so far. He scored twice: one goal was in the Spanish derby versus FC Barcelona for La Liga and the other one was in a UEFA Champions League match, in the home defeat 2-3 versus Shakhtar Donetsk at the group stage.
