Manchester United coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has signed a contract extension with the Old Trafford side that will see him remain at the club till 2024. Solskjaer has had an impressive speel at the helm so far with a second successive qualification to the Champions League secur3ed after he finished second to Champions, Manchester City in the 2020-21 season.

The Norwegian’s new contract is an extension of his deal from the first time he replaced Jose Mourinho in 2018. The contract also contains the option to extend for a further year after 2024. His initial contract would have expired in the summer of 2022.

While talking about his new deal with the club's official website, Solskjaer said: "Everyone knows the feeling I have for this club, and I am delighted to have signed this new contract. It is an exciting time for Manchester United, we have built a squad with a good balance of youth and experienced players that are hungry for success.

"I have a fantastic coaching team around me, and we are all ready to take that next step on our journey. Manchester United wants to be winning the biggest and best trophies and that’s what we are all striving for. We have improved, both on and off the pitch, and that will continue over the coming seasons. I can’t wait to get out in front of a packed Old Trafford and get this campaign started."

Solskjaer will be hoping to improve on last season’s performance with a longer run contending for the league title after playing second-fiddle to cross-town rivals, Manchester City for the better part of last season. He would also hope to go further in the knockout phases of the UEFA Champions League.

The squad at Old Trafford has been boosted by the contract renewal of Uruguayan striker, Edinson Cavani and the signing of exciting forward, Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. Players like Raphael Varane are also expected to join in later.
