Ronald Koeman decided to curiously leave Lionel Messi out of the starting XI for FC Barcelona’s victory against Betis on LaLiga. The Dutch coach said that he wanted the Argentinian legend to rest, as he had been playing all games of this season so far, including those with his national team.

But after a complicated first half that ended 1-1, Koeman called Messi from the bench and sent him to the field. The attacker didn’t disappoint once again and scored two goals in the final victory of his team 5-2. Ousmane Dembélé, Antoine Griezmann and Pedri González where the authors of the other goals.

Messi’s future is still uncertain at Barcelona. He wanted to leave during the last transfer window but ex-president Josep María Bartomeu declined him that position and closed him the exit door. After the departure of Bartomeu, the chances of him to leave now are very certain.

The contract of the Argentinian with the club will last until June 2021 and, after that, he may be finally leaving. Manchester City is the club that has more chances of signing him, as there he could reunite himself with Josep Guardiola and Sergio Aguero. PSG is other of the interested clubs on signing him.
