FC Barcelona is going through the most irregular season of this century due to the reorganization that Ronald Koeman started.

After the humiliating defeat against Bayern Munich, Lionel Messi shocked the whole world by announcing that he wanted to play for another club. But then, nothing happened because the president forced him to stay and there was no club looking to pay what Bartomeu was asking.

The problem is that Messi’s contract ends in 2021 and if he is not happy, he would not renovate. FC Barcelona needs to make a huge offer, even higher than the actual if they want to retain the Argentinian star. However, it is not possible for the club to pay a good salary to him.

Barcelona is under a crisis, they have a lot of debt and the reorganization will come sooner or later. Apparently, they have to pay more than $500 million dollars. So, if they make an outrageous effort to retain Messi, they would not be able to bring any new player.

What do they need to do? The new president will have to make a difficult decision. Maybe it is time to focus on players like Pedri, Ansu Fati, Trincao and Ousmane Dembele and understand that they will have to face some seasons with a less competitive team. Or they can just keep buying players and accumulate debts.
