Liga MX 2021: dates, when and where the classics of Mexican soccer will be played

Days after Club Leon obtained its eighth star against Pumas UNAM, The Liga MX announced the calendar for the next Clausura 2021 tournament, which will be renamed Guard1anes, in honor of all the Mexican health personnel who continue fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic.

As in the previous tournament, Guard1anes 2021 will have a regular phase of 17 weeks, which will start from January 8 to May 30, 2021 and the knockout stage will continue on May 8 and 9. The quarterfinal stage or liguilla (1st and 2nd leg games) will take place from May 12 to 16 and the semifinal stage will be from May 19 to 23. The grand final of the 1st leg game will begin on May 27, so the new champion of the Mexican tournament would be defined on May 30, the day the 2nd leg will be played.

Which days the Mexican football classics will be played?

A new season of great classics will begin with the well-known 4 greats; Club America, Chivas de Guadalajara, Pumas UNAM and Cruz Azul, in addition to the 2 great teams from the north, Club Tigres and Rayados de Monterrey, duels of great interest are expected for the fans in the next tournament 2021. The great classic of the Mexican soccer between Club America and Chivas de Guadalajara, will be played on March 14 at 9:00 p.m. at the Akron Stadium in Guadalajara.

The Clásico Joven, between Club América and Cruz Azul, will be played on April 17 at 9:00 p.m. at the historic Azteca Stadium, which is the home of both teams. Another classic of the capital that generates a lot of passion for the rivalry that are since the quarries is Club America against Pumas UNAM, that will be played on Sunday, May 2 at Ciudad Universitaria stadium.

The match between Cruz Azul against Chivas del Guadalajara, which is not a classic but is a match that raises a lot of passion due to the popularity of both teams, would be on Saturday, April 10 on the Azteca Stadium field. The match between Chivas de Guadalajara and Pumas de la UNAM will take place on Sunday, February 28. Pumas UNAM will receive Cruz Azul on Sunday, March 7 at noon on the Ciudad Universitaria field.
