The future of Lionel Messi is still uncertain, while many clubs appear in his radar. The Argentinian legend hasn’t yet defined what he will be doing soon, as his contract with FC Barcelona ends on June 2021 and, according to FIFA rules, he will be able to negotiate with other sides since January.
Messi tried to leave during the last transfer window, but ex-president Josep María Bartomeu didn’t let him. After his departure, things have changed and the attacker could leave now. Even though Manchester City is the club that insisted the most for him, Chelsea also intends to make a try to sign him.
The Blues had a chance to sign Messi many years ago, when José Mourinho was the head coach, but things didn’t advance. After all, the encounter could be occurring many years later. But in case that epic signing doesn’t happen, the London side is already working on another more possible incorporation.
Chelsea are looking forward to recovering Eden Hazard. The option of signing the Belgium offensive midfielder is only an option if Messi doesn’t arrive. He left the club on July 2019 to play for Real Madrid, but since then has been experiencing injuries and bad moments that make him think that both for Chelsea and himself, returning is the best option.
