The relationship of Hirving Lozano with Gennaro Gattuso was never the best one. The Mexican attacker and the head coach had many problems, most of them in the first season in which the forward didn’t perform as it was expected to and Gattuso asked him to improve his level.

But the start of the new campaign brought new airs to Lozano, who is so far the great figure of Napoli on the season. After just 14 Serie A appearances, he has scored seven goals and given two assists, being the player from the whole squad who netted more balls, even when he was injured during a couple of matches.

Nevertheless, the new problems for Lozano with Gattuso arrived from Mexico, where president of Pachuca, former side of the striker, Jesús Martínez, said that when Lozano didn’t perform as it was expected it was the fault of the manager as he didn’t give him the confident needed.

He always assured that the player was happier with Carlo Ancelotti, who asked him for less sacrifice and gave him more freedom on the field. After all, Lozano has already played 54 matches with Napoli, scoring 13 goals and giving four assists. On the past, he also played for Pachuca and for PSV Eindhoven. Since August 2019, when the Italians paid $35 million to sign him, he is doing so at Napoli.
