When he was young, he had the world at his feet. In 2014, he won the World Cup being just 20 years old. This player, who was once called a new Michael Ballack due to mixing technique and strength as an attacking midfielder, was fielded in the historic Germany win 7-1 against Brazil. Later, the transfer to a top club came for 40 million euro.

But after this, he was never the same again. He failed to live up to the expectations despite being surrounded by huge talent his whole career. First it was Raúl, then Mesut Ozil, and some time later Neymar and Kylian Mbappé. But he never could make a comeback and get the great performances he was when he was young. And his club knows it and will release him.

That is the sad story of Julian Draxler. His contract will expire this summer and Paris Saint-Germain do not want to renew it. They see the German as a waste of money on fee and wages, and in his more than three years in France he was never consistent. Also, his high wages could scare out any minor team interested in signing him.

So Draxler has two options: he can lower his pretentions and take a step down in his career to try to fix it and be that new Ballack again, or can find himself without a place where to work and ruin his career. Known as driven by money, Draxler knows he is already set for life but he will not want to have no more income and career.
