FC Barcelona is going through a very strange year. The Catalan side is trying to solve what will be happening with Lionel Messi, after the Argentinian side tried to leave during the last transfer window. It is said that he will be insisting on departing and now, after the exit of ex-president Josep María Bartomeu, he may be doing so.
Waiting for Messi final decision, head coach Ronald Koeman is also working on how the squad will be composed during the next campaign. Even though he was set to be Andrés Iniesta successor and specialists say he has great conditions, the Dutch coach is thinking on sending Riqui Puig out.
The youngster formed in La Masia doesn’t have many chances with Koeman as a coach and also wants to leave to play more. During the next weeks it will be defined if he leaves in a loan. With a contract remaining until June 2021 the chances of him leaving in a permanent move are also possible.
With many teams interested on the midfielder aged 21, Real Betis seems to be the club with more chances to sign him. Barcelona thinks that it is a good place for him to gain minutes and adapt to Spanish soccer. There he could meet Mexican Diego Lainez, another great prospect playing for the club formed in Club America.
