He got a career plenty of goals, assists and big matches. He even got his own ‘patented’ movement. But injuries have always been a big issue for him. In this current season he has only played 44 minutes. And the count could stop right there if the injury he has now is the final one.

He had retired before, but came back so he could return to his first ever club. He tried his best to keep up physically, but it was not enough. Still, he will still try to get better and help his beloved team, without knowing if it will be enough to play again for his FC Groningen, his boyhood club.

The Dutch international Arjen Robben could have his second and ultimate retirement because his recovering is not going as expected. He said he will keep working, but cannot make promises about whether he will feature again in a pitch, or he will put a period to his long and successful career.

Robben is 36 years old and after playing for PSV, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, wants to play again officialy for Groningen in 2021 if the rehabilitation ends up well. If it does not, it could be a sad ending for such a skilled player who won everything possible at club level.
