It is a good time for Liga MX, with internationals coming from many different corners of the world. Every continent has had at least a representative in the Mexican league, and all has been a great contribution to make Liga MX more competitive and also more attractive. For this reason, someone from Spain has been called.

It will be an addition to the Liga MX comission of referees, after the FMF relased an official statement saying that Arturo Angeles will not remain having that position. Angeles was key for VAR introduction in Mexican soccer. As a referee, he had featured in World Cup 1994.

His place is said to be taken by Alberto Undiano Mallenco, who supervised three matches in 2010 South Africa World Cup. Undiano Mallenco has also been a referee in the Spanish league for more than 20 years, and has also three U-20 World Cups under his belt.

His tasks will be instructing the referees so their criterias will be the most similar as possible, and supervising and correcting the VAR instructions when a wrong call has been made in a past match. The aim of bringing a former elite referee is to reduce the mistakes as much as possible.
