Life gave an unexpected twist in the life of Weston McKennie. The youngster aged 22 that plays for Juventus was once set to be an NFL player. He loved football, sport that he started to play since he was a kid, but his father, John, was a military that was moved to Germany when Weston was a child.
After arriving to his new country, the boy found out that nobody played football there and started practicing soccer. That was the reason why, even though he was a very good football player that dreamed to play at the NFL, he finally changed to soccer. On August 2016, he passed from Dallas Academy to Schalke 04.
But big things were waiting for this midfielder, that was loaned to Juventus on September 2020 for $5 million and is set to stay as there is a buying option for the Italian side now. Andrea Pirlo thinks he is a great player, and he has helped Cristiano Ronaldo to have very good performances in his team.
After 18 games played, in which he entered mostly from the bench, McKennie has already scored three goals and given two assists, including a very important score against FC Barcelona. The player now knows that his dream to join the NFL won’t be possible, but is living his own dream playing Serie A aside with top stars.
