In the last few days, the news was known that the MLS and the Liga MX are analyzing to function to create a tougher and more attractive competition. In that sense, they received important news. It's that the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, said that "the union between MLS and the Mexican League would lead to the best league in the world". The blessing for the fusion of the competitions that make up teams from the United States, Canada and Mexico could mark a before and after in the constitution of football competitions.

This was made known by the top manager in a press conference after the Council of the organization. He argues that this union could challenge the hegemony of European competitions. “The potential of the United States and Mexico, each one separately, is enormous. But if they could join it would be amazing. If we want the clubs to be at the highest level in the world, not only in Europe, we must have new ideas”, said Infantino.

The governing body of football not only gives the blessing to this merger, but also encourages and advises it for the conformation of the tournaments. As the Argentine website Doble Amarilla was able to find out with various sources, one of the suggestions was the creation of a Promotion category to promote sporting merit, since today the MLS does not have this system.

With this decision, it is clear that FIFA does not interfere in the number of teams for the conformation of local competitions, as evidenced in the cases of the MLS or the Professional League of Argentine soccer (both with 26 teams).
