FC Barcelona has a tremendous suspicion regarding Martínez Munuera, the referee of the controversy in El Clásico
The referee gave Real Madrid a penalty after consulting the VAR and FC Barcelona is asking why didn’t he do the same in similar situations.
Real Madrid won 3-1, but the key moment of the match was the second goal. Sergio Ramos got fouled by Clement Lenglet and Juan Martínez Munuera decided to give the team a penalty through the VAR. Apparently, there was a foul by Ramos before that action that was not seen.
That is not the only situation, why FC Barcelona is protesting about. Casemiro clash against Lionel Messi on Madrid’s area and the Argentinian ended up on the floor. Why did the referee decided not to go the VAR in that situation? A penalty for Barcelona would change the course of the match at that moment.
The club has said that Martínez Munuera did not apply the same standards when using (or not) the VAR to judge the plays in the area. That’s why they are in touch with the Spanish Federation with a formal protest to show their disappointment.
This is not the first time that something like this happened. Several fans for a lot of clubs are arguing the same. Since the resumption of the league Real Madrid played 17 matches, and the VAR has interfered in 12. What does this say about the club? Why are there so many plays to analyze on Real Madrid matches?
