Cristiano Ronaldo scored in a third match running since his return to Manchester United to help them win away at West Ham and move back level on points with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.

West Ham's Said Benrahma opened the scoring in the 31st minute with a beautiful shot from outside the box. Cristiano Ronaldo drew Manchester United levelled four minutes later to help United go into the interval levelled.

The second half had a lot of penalty appeals waved away for either side, both rightfully and controversially. The best was saved for the last in the match as it was the final five minutes that had the best of the dramas. Jesse Lingard whose error led to the loss at midweek scored to give United the lead in the 88th minute against a team he represented last season.

West Ham were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute, which West Ham captain Mark Noble missed with his first kick of the match. David de Gea who conceded 11 penalties in last year's Europa League final saved his first penalty in 40 attempts, first since 2016.

The match ended 2-1 in favour of Manchester United who returned to second position tied level on points with Liverpool who have a superior goal advantage.
