Cruz Azul is not going through the best time of the year. The Mexican team has not won for three games in the Liga MX: it was defeated by Tigres and Toluca (both 2-0) and drew 0-0 against America. In addition, they are in fourth position in the Guardianes 2020 Liga MX, with 26 points, seven points behind leader León.

Cruz Azul's bad results don't stop and the club's directors are already thinking about a replacement for coach Robert Siboldi. The 55-year-old Uruguayan coach has been leading Cruz Azul since September 6, 2019.  He has also coached Dorados de Sinaloa (2012), Club Santos Laguna (2017-2018) and Club Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz (2018-2019) in Mexico.

Ricardo Ferretti is the coach most likely to replace Siboldi. He has been leading Tigres since 2010 and he is linked by contract with the Mexican team until 2021. He has won the Mexican Primera División five times (Apertura 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017 and Clausura 2019) and the Copa de Campeones three times (2016, 2017 and 2018)

In case Ferreti extends his contract with Tigres, Matías Almeyda would be the replacement of Siboldi. The Argentinean is the current coach of the Major League Soccer team San Jose Eathquakes, which is at seventh place in the Western Conference. However, Ferretti is the priority.
