After the embarrassing loss to Pumas in the Liga MX, Cruz Azul suffered a defeat again but this time against LAFC in the CONCACAF Champions League. Although at first this tournament was not going to be important for Cruz Azul, the defeat in Liga MX forced at least to reach the final to calm the crisis in the club. It did not happen and the former players and legends of Cruz Azul lashed out at the club.

The hardest and most direct message was that of the former star of Cruz Azul, Carlos Hermosillo who said that if something starts badly it is obvious that it will end badly. He also harshly attacked the leaders of Cruz Azul for not having a plan for the future and that it was all improvisation. He had a great response from the public since the vast majority agreed with Hermosillo.

Another of the former Cruz Azul players who made his discomfort public was Emanuel “Tito” Villalba, who was very hurt by the moment of Cruz Azul. Villalba said he felt very hurt by the moment of Cruz Azul but he hopes that as they hit bottom they can rise up stronger than ever but with the bases and values of Cruz Azul (“De Raiz”).

The Spanish Marc Crosas was another of the players who was present in the criticism of Cruz Azul. Marc Crosas pointed directly to the president of Cruz Azul and asked him to face up to give an institutional message. Furthermore, according to Marc Crosas, Cruz Azul played worse against LAFC than against Pumas in Liga MX.

Finally, Christian Gimenez, one of Cruz Azul's idols, also went public on Instagram saying that he support Cruz Azul and Santiago Gimenez to death, one of the players who made the most sense after the defeat against LAFC. Without any doubt, Cruz Azul will need changes for next season to be able to reverse this crisis that it is suffering.
