Paris Saint-Germain president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi had reiterated that his club is within the Financial Fair Play regulations in regards to the signing fees and wages of players. The Saudi Arabian administrator remains confident that the club can cater for the players within their means. Al-Khelaifi made this known amidst rumours that the club might be flouting rules and would be sued to court.
PSG has had a very productive summer, bringing in many top players with a combination of prized assets and top-quality free transfers. The Parisian club completed the transfers of Achraf Hakimi and Danilo Pereira from Inter Milan and FC Porto respectively for €60m and €25m respectively. They have also snapped up Sergio Ramos, Gini Wijnaldum and Gigi Donnarumma all for free from Real Madrid, Liverpool and AC Milan. The latest in their amazing transfer coup is the signing of free agent Lionel Messi from Barcelona.
With huge wages, transfer fees/signing-on fees splashed on these players, many clubs believe that PSG would certainly be flouting FFP rules that forbid teams from spending more than money generated by the club. PSG also still has high-earners such as Neymar, Mbappe, Icardi and Angel di Maria on their books. Indeed, Barcelona has threatened to sue the French club over the signing of Lionel Messi on FFP grounds.
However, the PSG supremo, Al-Khelaifi has assured that the club can afford the wages. He revealed that before any transfer is made, the club confirms from their legal, commercial, and financial departments. Al-Khelaifi also stated that the other Ligue 1 Club presidents have thanked him for bringing Lionel Messi to the league. The Saudi Arabian administrator expects that the presence of the 6-time Ballon d'Or winner would increase the popularity of the league as well as TV rights.
