Derbies are always special, London derbies in England more special. This will be just another entertaining encounter between two of the fiercest rivals of Nort London. It's always a high scoring game as there have been 27 goals in the last 10 games between the two sides. Tottenham manager Nuno Espirito Santo will have his first London derby while Mikel Arteta will have his first in front of the fans. Tottenham will hope striker Harry Kane who tried to leave the club in the summer but stayed will find his scoring boots and help the team.

 

Arsenal in the Premier League this season

Arsenal started their season with three straight defeats, 2-0 loss to newly promoted Brentford City, 2-0 loss to their London rivals Chelsea and 5-0 loss to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City before amassing two 1-0 victories over Norwich City and Burnley and now face a tough task against Tottenham Hotspur. Arsenal, who spent the first three match days of the season in the relegation zone, are now 13th on the table.

 

Tottenham in the Premier League this season

Tottenham started their season with three straight 1-0 victories over Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Watford United before collapsing to two straight 3-0 victories to London rivals Crystal Palace and Chelsea. They currently sit seventh on the EPL manager. New head coach Nuno Espirito Santo will hope to win his first London derby after losses to Crystal Palace and Chelsea.

 

Arsenal team news and what the manager said

Arsenal will have a full squad to select from when they host Tottenham on Sunday if there are no other issues when the team have their final training tomorrow. Swiss midfielder who had Covid19 has also returned to full training after the period of his self-isolation.

 

"Well, it’s the most special game of the season at home that’s for sure. It’s a London derby. Emotionally it’s a different one to play and we know how much it means for our supporters as well. They [the players] do and I will make sure that they understand what it means. The history between the two clubs and where this rivalry comes from and what it means emotionally to all of our supporters. You have to play that game with slightly different skin because there is a little bit more at stake," Arteta said during his pre-match press conference.

 

Tottenham team news and what the manager said

Tottenham will be without two of their players. Ditch forward Steven Bergwijn and English youngster Ryan Sessegnon while Nuno Espirito Santo will be boosted by the return of Brazilian attacker Lucas Moura. Moura missed the last two games due to a knock.

 

"They are a good team, what we look at is now. Good and talented, quality players in the squad. We expect a tough match. Recent weeks better results, this is the assessment we make. We have to try and get the right info to the players to deliver. We expect a tough match and for us, we have to compete, we have to play and compete well. Give everything that we can and play good. Playing good is finding the right balance in our game. Improvements to be made but a lot of positives that we take from the previous games, so let's keep on going." Nuno said his pre-match press conference.
