Diego Maradona is still making the news, even after his death. It was finally revealed what said the messages carved on his tomb, arranged by his former wife Claudia and his daughters Dalma and Giannina. Maradona’s body was buried in a graveyard some kilometres away from Buenos Aires.
Some teammates of the Argentina team that won the World Cup in 1986 gathered today in the cemetery and visited his tomb for around half an hour, given they had not been able to attend the exclusive funeral because the family of the former player invited a small group of people.
The tomb has two plates on it, and each had a message written. One said ‘We miss you’, sent from the family and the closest friends. The other, asked for Maradona himself some years ago, said ‘Thanks to the ball’. He had told in a TV show in 2005 he wanted that sentence carved on his tomb when he died.
Diego Maradona passed away in his house in Tigre, Buenos Aires, on November 25th due to a cardiac arrest, one month after turning 60 years old. Being one of the best players in the history of the sport, his death was a shock for the whole soccer world, which paid tributes to him everywhere.
