Samuel Eto’o was involved in this controversy that pitted him against Wayne Rooney

Samuel Eto’o was probably the best Cameroonian soccer player ever and transformed himself into a legend a FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter, clubs in which he won four Champions League titles. He started his career in 1996 and ended it in 2019, even though it was many times rumored that he may return to play one day.

Wayne Rooney was as well a top soccer player, the one who scored the biggest number of goals for England national team. The attacker played almost all of his career at Manchester United, but also passed through Everton, D.C. United and Derby County. At his 35 years old, he won five Premier League titles and one Champions League.

Recently, UEFA Champions League Twitter account (@ChampionsLeague) published a poll that generated a scandal in which the two stars were compared and fans had to pick just one of them. The poll included the numbers of how both of them performed while playing the UCL. Eto’o scored 30 goals on 85 games played, while Rooney scored 30 as well on 78 matches, but gave two assists less.

Fans started voting to pick the best one and a couple of hours after the start, Eto’o was leading the contest, with 55% against 45% and more than 30,000 votes. December 27 will be the last day in which fans will be able to participate, and after that we will have a clear winner to know who was the best one of this two strikers.
