Sir Alex Ferguson was one of the best head coaches from soccer history. He started his career at East Stirlingshire FC, continued at St. Mirren, Aberdeen FC and Scotland national team, before arriving to Manchester United on November 1986. Since then, he changed the life of the club forever.

Ferguson stayed at the Red Devils until 2013, managing the team in 1276 matches with a result of 790 victories, 267 ties and 219 defeats. At the first team of the Premier League side, he was able to manage very important players, such as David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville or Wayne Rooney.

But many times, it was rumored about the players that could have arrived to Manchester United and finally didn’t. Recently, The Sun published the list of the top players from all over the world who were very near to arrive to MUFC when Ferguson was the head coach but finally didn’t.

To start, we have Petr Cech as a goalkeeper. The defenders were Philippe Lahm, Vincent Kompany, Paolo Maldini and Bixente Lizarazu. The midfielders of that possible XI were Arjen Robben, Zinedine Zidane, Paul Gascoine and Ronaldinho. In attack, Roberto Lewandowski and Alan Shearer. A top team that never played together but that Ferguson was near to unite.
