Like Ronaldinho: five high profile players who have been arrested in 2020

Ronaldinho made the news around the world in March, when he and his brother were arrested after showing fake passports in Paraguay. He left the prison in August after paying a millionaire bail and huges fines for fraud. But he was not unique. Here goes a list of other five high profile who have been behind the bars in this year.

Quincy Promes: the Dutch winger and Ajax star was convicted today after allegedly stabbing a family member. He had been arrested before in 2018 after beating his girlfriend, but avoided a full sentence and continued his career, at least until today.

Harry Maguire: the Manchester United center back and captain has been convicted on his vacations in Mykonos, Greece after he attempted to bribe a cop,and abused him, verbally and physically. At first he was sentenced to 21 months of prison but the club hired attorneys who made Maguire get no charges at all. His club had paid 80 million pounds for him just a year before.

Callum Hudson-Odoi: the Chelsea hot prospect was arrested in May after a rape accusation from a model. Apparently she called police and an ambulance to his appartment. He was released on bail and one month later, she dropped the charges.

Edwin Congo: this former Real Madrid player saw the prison also in May, after being accused of being part of a band that trafficked drugs. That same day he answered some questions, wrote a statement and was released. He admitted have links to people involved though.

Farid El Melali: international with Algeria, he was arrested twice for masturbating in public. The first one was in May, when a woman complained El Melali was doing such thing under the window of her appartment and he admitted the charges an was let go after paying a fine. Two months later, he did it again and received a 18 month sentence.
