When children dream of being professional players, most now say I want to be like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, but before that the dream was to be Diego Maradona. There was a young footballer who had to carry the nickname of being the new Diego Maradona, which FC Barcelona and Real Madrid fight for him and that is why he never managed to shine as a footballer.

Ariel Huguetti was a young man full of dreams related to soccer. The young left-handed player was one of the promises of Argentine football and when Real Madrid and FC Barcelona first appeared I wanted to rush to buy him. All the newspapers in the world had already dubbed him the new Diego Maradona, but Huguetti was a simple boy who wanted to play soccer.

In 2000 the magic and skill of Ariel Huguetti made FC Barcelona and Real Madrid start fighting each other to see who was going to get what they considered the new best player of the millennium. The comparison with Diego Maradona cost him a lot psychologically and Huguetti himself said that he could never have done what Diego Maradona did.

Today after not being able to be a footballer, he lives in Spain where he works as security for several farms. The dream of being the new Maradona was forgotten and today he happily enjoys his family life. Huguetti could have gone a long way as a footballer but the media and the legacy of being the new Diego Maradona ruined his career.
