He had won UEFA Cup surprisingly with his club, went to Inter to play with stars like Ronaldo Nazario and Andrea Pirlo, and excelled against all odds with his country in the 2002 World Cup, setting a record that remains untouched. But he had problems regarding politics and now he is a Uber driver in America.
He was a celebrity in Turkey, scoring 51 goals in 112 matches with the national team. One of them was the fastest ever of the World Cups, at 10.8 seconds in the match for the third place versus South Korea. But after his retirement his life was filled with worries and things went downhill.
That former striker is Hakan Sukur. Being wanted in his country for alleged connections with a banned movement, he moved to USA in 2015 and claimed to have nothing because the government confiscated all of the things he had. He started a bakery in California, closed it and started working for Uber and selling books.
After his glorious spell in Galatasaray, he played for Inter, Torino, Parma and Blackburn. In 2011 he started his career as a politician, that lasted two years. In 2017 he moved to the United States, and is surely remembering those moments where he was partnering Ronaldo in the Inter attack.
