Few people in the soccer world like Lionel Messi as much as David Beckham. The Englishman and the Argentinian have a great relationship and the former player wants to take Lio to Inter Miami CF in the next months. But, there is something that Beckham suffered because of Messi and he will never forget.

This comes from one of the last times they faced each other, in a UEFA Champions League match in 2013, for the quarterfinals first leg. In the Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona drew 2-2. Beckham, at 38 years old, was in the starting eleven. And in that match, as himself stated, Messi made him retire.

At some point in the first half, Becks tried to mark the Argentinian but Messi went through easily, like he is used to. In that exact moment, the English felt humiliated and realized he had not the necessary physique in him to compete at the highest level. And he took the difficult decision of retiring. One month later, he had his farewell from PSG and was not a player anymore.

That was a good decision for him though, because then he became a successful businessman, and saw how the club founded by himself, Inter Miami CF, was making its MLS debut. Now, he wants to take it to the top of the league, and is planning ambitious moves to make this achievement that include the GOAT and Sergio Ramos.

The possibility of Lionel Messi joining MLS

As reported, he has a few options that include Inter Miami CF and New York City FC in MLS, or he could remain in Europe at Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester City. But Messi already owning an appartment in Miami gives an upper-hand to the team owned by David Beckham.
