CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying Qatar 2022: TV, schedule, and standings

The CONMEBOL 2022 Qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar return to play Matchday 15 on January 27 and 28 and Matchday 16 on February 1. The South American region awards four automatic tickets to the World Cup in Qatar, plus a ticket that gives the fifth-place team the opportunity to participate in a playoff series.

Brazil, with 35 points already, and Argentina, with 29, have booked their tickets for the World Cup in Qatar. Both teams have one game in hand on each other, after the controversial match was called off before kick-off minutes earlier.

With four rounds remaining, Ecuador appears to be the next team to secure its place in Qatar, as they have 23 points in third place but are 6 points ahead of Colombia and Peru who have 17 points. Los Cafetaleros are in fourth place by goal difference, while Peru is in fifth place. 

Other teams still fighting for fourth and fifth place are Chile and Uruguay with 16 points and Bolivia with 15 points. The Chilean national team is in sixth place, by goal difference over Uruguay. Paraguay could still qualify but has no margin for error in the remaining 4 matches. The Guaraní nation has 13 points. The ranking is completed by Venezuela, which has no chance of qualifying with only 7 points.
