Panama vs Canada is close, which begs the question: will the Panamanians be able to secure their tickets to Qatar in the final match of the CONCACAF 2022 qualifiers?

The Canaleros could qualify for the World Cup directly if several factors combine, and if they do their part and defeat the Canadian national team.

Can the Panamanians punch their tickets to Qatar in the final match of the CONCACAF 2022 qualifiers?

For the Canaleros to gain direct access to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, they must not only score points but also hope that Mexico loses points in one of its matches.

However, there is still another option for Thomas Christiansen's team to reach Qatar 2022, and that is through reclassification, a mechanism in which they will have to compete for a ticket against another team.

In this instance, the Canaleros will have to face the team that occupies the same place in the OFC (Oceania Football Confederation). And if the Panamanians win this match, they will be able to attend the World Cup without any problems.

But to qualify for this option, the Panamanian soccer team will have to score more points than Costa Rica by winning the 3 matches of the current round or hope that the Ticos score as few points as possible.

But this now looks a bit complicated since the Canaleros drew one of their matches, but lost to the USMNT, and tomorrow they have a complicated match against Canada

In addition, Costa Rica has already accumulated more points than Panama, since while the Ticos have 22 points, the Panamanians have 18. Therefore, it looks a little complicated for the Canaleros to even qualify for re-qualification.

How many World Cups has Panama not attended?

If Panama's national soccer team fails to attend the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, it would be the first time they have missed out since their first time in Russia in 2018

The first World Cup that Panama attended was in 2018, precisely the World Cup held in Russia, which the Canaleros attended after a tough World Cup Qualifying

On September 2, 2016, Panama sealed its pass to the final hexagonal round after defeating Jamaica 2-0, and later, on October 10, 2017, the Panama national team would qualify for the first time in its history to the 2018 World Cup after defeating Costa Rica 2-1.

In this way, the Canaleros obtained the third and last direct quota of the Hexagonal Final behind Mexico and Costa Rica, eliminating the USMNT from qualifying for the Russia 2018 World Cup.

The dramatic aspect of this qualifying round was that the USMNT team in 2013 was responsible for Panama's elimination from the Brazil 2014 World Cup.

On the other hand, it ended up sending Honduras to the playoffs, which ended up losing to Australia 3-1.
